Paws for Thought
Last year, Year 6 and Senior School students helped raise money for one of Bahrain’s most-loved charities: The BSPCA. The children held a fun day at the Junior School and organised a rock concert at the Senior School to raise the funds which were happily received. In recognition of the School’s efforts the BSPCA have placed plaques on two of their kennels at their brand new Askar shelter.
St Christopher’s School is proud to have made a positive contribution to this very worthy cause.
Claire Cunningham of the BSPCA wrote and said:
I am attaching photos of the two plaques in the name of St Christopher’s School students which have at long last been put up on display on the dog pens at the AWC and would be grateful if you could ensure the relevant students get to see them. We hope that at some point they will be able to come and see them for themselves in person.
As you may know, the BSPCA Animal Welfare Centre at Askar is now open and the Shakoora shelter has finally closed after 23 years of existence. We are delighted to have finally moved into our new “home” which is equipped with state of the art facilities (well, to us they are, compared to the ramshackle buildings we are used to operating out of!), has plenty of space and more pens for the animals that we care for.
I am writing to thank you all once again for your support, without the help and enthusiasm of the schoolchildren and members of the public we would not be able to exist as it is that generosity which helps to keep the Society running.
