Team spirit was high in Abu Dhabi

The F1 in Schools World Finals 2012 was held over the course of three days at Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi in October. Thirty three teams from twenty two countries were brought together for the biggest challenge of their lives- competing for the prestigious Bernie Ecclestone World Champions Trophy and coveted automotive and motorsport engineering scholarships to City University London.
Formula One Supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, took time out of his busy schedule to present the F1 in Schools Bernie Ecclestone World Champions Trophy to Cold Fusion, the Australian team who won this year’s F1 in Schools World Final.
St Christopher’s Team 7th Gear is led by Team Manager, Shawn Amirthan, aged 13, with three team mates: Resource Manager, Hussain Mattar, aged 13, Manufacturing Engineer, Anish Vishwakoti, aged 13, and Design Engineer, Daniel Horler, aged 13. Team 7th Gear, was the youngest team to enter the international competition and finished in 30th place, beating the St Christopher’s own record by almost double. The team had the opportunity to meet David Croft from Sky Sports HD, Gary Anderson, the Formula 1 technical analyst representing the BBC as well as racing drivers at the YAS Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
Team 7th Gear
Team 7th Gear benefited hugely from the support given by the BIC who provided the opportunity to meet with professional driving teams as well as sponsorship to participate in the World Finals.
