‘Twas a Week Before Christmas
‘Twas a week before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring except for a mouse,
5 puddings, 5 monkeys, 5 trees and a star
In the hope that Mum and Dad would soon get here by car.
The children were sat, all dressed in their gear,
While memories of songs made them wiggle and cheer.
With Santa in his beard, and the words on my knee,
We all settled down and waited with glee.
And then, in a twinkling, we heard at the door
One Mummy, one Granny and then there were more.
As we sat very nicely, not turning around,
Through the door, Mums and Dads, came in with abound.
We spoke not a word, but went straight to our play,
Filled the classroom with song, on this wonderful day,
And acting so well, we danced and we sang,
And giving a shake, jingle bells how they rang!
The audience sprang to their feet, to the kids gave a cheer,
That was greatly deserved and very sincere.
We heard them exclaim, as they drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”
Santa’s Surprise
After a very successful trip to Nakheel Centre earlier in term 1, all Reception classes were again invited back to watch the Nakheel Centre Festive lights being switched on, or so they thought. The children waited expectantly, waiting for the tree to spring into light. Little did they know, Santa himself was waiting in the wings to speak with them and shower them with gifts from the North Pole. Imagine their surprise! As one excited child explained, “I never even knew that Santa even knew I was here!”
Thank you to the staff of the Nakheel Centre for extending such a warm welcome to us and, of course, to the big guy himself, Santa Claus; what a great way to close the first term.
