Let the Music Take You Away
This year’s Young Musicians of the Gulf saw twelve St Christopher’s School students joining 120 other performers for a week’s competition at Dubai College. This was the first time our students have had to cope with the demands of competing without home advantage. Our performers acquitted themselves well with many good performances, but especially from Michel TouTungy and Raoul D’Souza who reached the Semi-Final stage. Michel TouTungy was awarded the Knights Bequest Prize for Best Bahrain Based Musician. Our students enjoyed the experience and there was much to gain, not only from the competition but also from Master Classes which were led by the three adjudicators of the competition. They all benefitted from the rigours of Young Musicians of the Gulf and the good organisation provided by Dubai College. We are sure the experience will be remembered as YMoG returns to St Christopher’s in 2014.
