Make the Audience Think
On 21 and 22 March, the GCSE Drama students performed an eclectic mix of plays and devised performances to an enthusiastic audience of friends, family and staff. The examination brief from Edexcel was to create performances that “make the audience think”. This encouraged students to handle gritty topics ranging from abduction to murder and childhood to cannibalism! Several members of the audience commented on the emotional rollercoaster of having several performances on one afternoon. The focus and dedicated approach of the students was evident throughout all the performances. The audience left emotionally drained but impressed!
The pieces were: Mugged by Andrew Payne performed by Milan Malik, Bobby Dowhy, Iain Snell, Esme Pariseau and Sarah Pollman, Blue Beard performed by Elzé Van Achterbergh, Zoriaiz Zubair, Ayesha Shaheen, Sarah Taylor and Elizabeth Ajayi, A Stolen Life performed by Peria Honar, Hannah Van der Eyken, Hannah Berkhauer, Sofia Ali, Zainab Manasawlal and Nadine Love, Mother Figure by Alan Ayckbourn performed by Shaikha Almusawi, Alienor Mariot and Owen Wilson and Morelight by Bryony Lavery performed by Alya Altareef, Hannah Bricklebank, Robyn Durnford, Hayley Huckvale, Tara McCarthy, Karly Mullins, Hana Nasif and Sanjana Varghese.
