French Scholarships
In November 2013, Mr Wilson, Mr Keeble and Mr Bazzouz met with Mr Cedric Devais, Attache Culturel to the French Embassy, to discuss opportunities for co-operation between St Christopher’s School and the French Embassy in Bahrain. Mr Devais informed us that, as a result of being awarded the Prize for Best DELF School in Bahrain in November 2011 and November 2012, the French Embassy had decided to offer two fully funded Scholarships to St Christopher’s School students. The Scholarship covers the costs of a two week intensive French language course in Nice on the French Riviera and includes the costs of flights, full board and accommodation, excursions to Cannes and St Tropez and tuition. Interested students and parents were invited to a presentation relating to this unique opportunity. All applicants were invited to interview with Mr Bazzouz and Mademoiselle Alice De Mony Pajol from the French Embassy. After much deliberation, the French Embassy informed us that Lulu Al Sugair and Nayanika Cherian are the recipients of the Jules Verne Scholarships for this academic year. Lulu and Nayanika will travel to Nice in August 2014 and immerse themselves in the French language and culture. We wish them every success in this exciting linguistic and cultural adventure.
