Chelsea Pensioner Visits St Chris
On Monday 10 November in Saar we welcomed a very special visitor, retired Warrant Officer, Patrick Teegan (Paddy) who spent a few hours with us.
He enlisted in Belfast and trained as a supply specialist travelling to Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore. He served in total for 34 years and for his long and loyal service, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. “Speaking with Paddy was a great way to think about the fallen soldiers who have given their lives for their country.” Faith Murray said.
During his time at the school he led a Year 6 assembly, toured the Saar campus and visited lots of classes. “I was very impressed with the children’s questions” he said, “I really enjoyed my visit”.
We presented him with a donation towards the excellent work undertaken by the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. He told us a little of their daily life there and was very proud of the fact that it is the home of the famous annual Chelsea Flower Show. Louis O’Driscoll said, “Paddy was really interesting to listen to. I learned a lot about the Chelsea Pensioners.”
