Follow the Yellow Brick Road
This week, packed audiences were transported back to 1939 where a tornado has ripped through the state of Kansas. Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house by the tornado to the magical Land of Oz. Once in Oz, they follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard and, en route they meet a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a cowardly Lion who wants courage. The Wicked Witch of the West, the Jitterbugs, the Winged Monkeys and Winkie Guards all try to stop Dorothy from reaching the Wizard and returning home. However, with the help of the Good Witch, the Munchkins and the People of Oz, Dorothy eventually learns that she has the power to return herself home and “there’s no place like home!”
Accompanied by the talented instrumental teachers, the cast of one hundred and fifty sang and acted with great skill and enthusiasm. All this was set off by the amazing costumes and set design.
A huge thank you must go out to all the staff, generous sponsors of the show, and to all the helpers and volunteers who made this year’s production so special.
