“Home of the Palm”
‘Our Island Home’ is a comparative study of Bahrain with the island of Coll off the coast of Scotland. We always end the geography unit with Palm Day.
Palm Day allows us to celebrate the importance of the date palm, as well as being a well-deserved treat after a busy start to the year. After looking at the importance of the date palm in Bahrain, the children took part in three very different activities
We made date palm chocolate treats, clay date palm models and made woven traditional palm leaf fans. The children also came dressed in green and brown and one child in 2A even had an amazing palm tree hat!
As always we had a very messy and enjoyable time and lots of went home with clay on their hands and chocolate covered faces.
