April 14 – 17
This year’s BSME Music Festival was hosted by Brighton College in Abu Dhabi from 14-17 April 2016. The weekend had a theme of BritPop and Classics and involved the performances of well-known pop songs sung by the choir and British Classics played by the orchestra. For a number of the pieces, the two groups came together in rehearsals and concert. The Festival is non-competitive and culminates in a performance to parents and friends in the school.
This year, the concert was outdoors in a mini amphitheatre, lit by spotlights and mic’d up by a professional sound crew. As the theme was ‘Brit’, fish and chips were served in the interval next to the very British red telephone box. The BSME Music Festival is a great event for young musicians between Years 5 – 10 and at a level of Grades 1 – 6. Everyone this year had a great time and we look forward to next year’s Music Festival in Kuwait.
