Middle East Unity Cup Swimming Championships
On 28 April, our St Chris Sharks travelled to Dubai to compete in the two day Middle East Unity Cup Swimming Championships. For some of our swimmers it was the first overseas event they have attended and the first experience competing in a 50m pool. At the end of a very tiring weekend we left with 39 medals and were placed third out of 23 schools, from 9 different countries. The climax of the weekend was when Roma Vrijhof swam 100 backstroke in a time of 1.12.55, enabling her to qualify for the Dutch Nationals which will be taking place in the summer holiday. A prime example of how hard work and determination pay off. Well done, Roma. Another highlight was when some of our new members of our squad were awarded medals.
