New York, New York …
In July, the Art and Drama departments joined forces to take an intrepid team of students to New York. Undeterred by the grueling 14-hour flight and eager with anticipation, our enthusiastic students began a jam-packed week touring the sights of the Big Apple. Incredible views across the city were enjoyed from the top of the Rockefeller Centre and the Empire State building. Cultural highlights inspired us and did not fail to disappoint with beautiful artwork in the Metropolitan Museum of art, MoMA and The Guggenheim.
The students also experienced the lights of Broadway, seeing the new Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical ‘School of Rock’ and everyone’s favourite, ‘Wicked’. Mrs Wardle, Mr Mulleague, Mrs Leap and the students all enjoyed exploring the streets and subways of Manhattan and encountered most districts from 5th Avenue to Little Italy and Soho. Just in good time, the students then soaked in the spectacular views of the city skyline and Statue of Liberty on a relaxing Circle line tour on the Hudson river. Social evenings were spent at restaurants including the Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood and the world famous Ellen’s Stardust, listening to the incredible singing waiters. Students enjoyed some retail therapy at Bloomingdales and Times Square. Overall, our students were a huge credit to the school on an unforgettable trip.
