Just Another Right Royal Rendezvous
Following hot on the heels of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall, this week saw more royal visitors arriving at St Chris including King Henry VIII and his wives. In fact, there were a whole host of Henries and a considerable number of queens. The occasion was, of course, the annual Year 5 Tudor Day.
Picture the scene: ranks of the Tudor elite, Tudor servants, Tudor hoi polloi, all eagerly awaiting the arrival of the all-important top table royal guests. The whiff of suckling duckling and poached pike filling a thousand nostrils while a stately Pavane played gently in the background…
Once everyone was assembled and the Hall, full, we were to be delighted by numerous Tudor compositions performed by each of the classes. The children had worked extremely hard in Music lessons perfecting these musical items. Not to be left out, the Year 5 teachers then took to the stage with their own Tudor tunes. Meanwhile, a roast dinner was ably served by a bevy of beautiful serving ladies. Thank you to them all.
The festivities concluded with a pleasingly mellow rendition of Henry VIII’s ‘own’ Greensleeves.
