St Chris Finish in Fourth Place
St Christopher’s Under 19 Boys Football Team finished the Unity Cup in fourth place following a dramatic penalty shoot-out in Dubai. St Christopher’s Unity Cup campaign got off to an unlucky start with a 3-1 defeat to DISB. In the following game, St Christopher’s showed great perseverance and attacking play to beat Dubai International School 6-1. St Christopher’s then held eventual tournament winners KANOO of Bahrain to a 1-1 draw with a goal from team captain, Ali Mattar. The boys were unlucky not to win this game conceding an equaliser via an own goal. The result meant that St Christopher’s would narrowly miss out on a place in the Unity Cup Final. The second day saw an impressive side beat BSM from Oman 3-0. The team showed incredible team spirit and excellent play to then pick up wins against both UASK and WSO. After narrowly missing out on a place in the final, St Christopher’s finished the Unity Cup with a third place play-off against BSM from Oman. The match ended 1-1 after normal time and went to penalties. After a hard fought contest, St Christopher’s were unlucky to lose the match on penalties. It was a good tournament with a number of standout performances. There is a lot of potential in the squad and they will surely be challenging for trophies next season.
