We would like to say a very big thank you to Year 11 student Maddie for taking part in our very first ‘St Chris Stories’ Student Takeover! Maddie returns to school after a very exciting summer, which saw her represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the 2018 World Kickboxing Organisation (WKO) World Championship – and be crowned Champion in the K-1 Light Ladies category! We are always delighted to see our students pursue their interests both inside and outside the classroom, and after months of hard-work, we were absolutely thrilled to hear of Maddie’s accomplishments! Break Time: 'The hustle of busy break time. A hub for year 11 activity at second breaks is this small area in front of the DT block; though very busy and sometimes slightly crowded, it is an area where a lot of year 11 convene to catch up with many they would most probably not talk to on a normal day!'

GCSE Graphics CA: 'A GCSE course that, although looks like there is a lot of work, is so rewarding to the individuals who partake. Learning about customers and their wants and needs, developing drawing techniques, delving into computer aided design (CAD), all combined together with skills that can be applied to any subject - it just doesn't get better for a student like me!'

Track Break: 'Getting used to the weather in Bahrain is hard for most and very few venture outside the safety of air conditioning, but on occasion through September we get some cool afternoons or even a break from the humidity. St Christopher's Senior School has many open areas and a prime one is this central track which many find themselves walking across daily to their various lessons'

GCSE Art student: Where to start with this hectic subject! I'm not going to lie to you; Art is a lot of hard work, but the sense of achievement and feeling of satisfaction once you complete a page, a book, or even your whole project, is beyond anything I can describe! My theme for my coursework is Muay Thai and Impact, but you can choose absolutely anything you want if you opt for GCSE, IB or A Level Art, the department considers all ideas and is absolutely vital to your success as a student and this is evident in the outstanding exhibitions put on every year.

Starting the new academic year with a whole new year group coming up from the Junior school I want to share my story and inspire others to gain confidence and try new things. In this first term I am working with Mr O'Dowd to put together a 'TedTalk' style presentation for the students of Years 7 and 8 in the hope to inspire them for the coming years in the Senior school.
