Jolly Hockey Sticks!
On Monday10 December, the inaugural St Chris Hockey Team played against a visiting BSB team. In a closely fought contest, fortunes first swung BSB’s way as they took a 2-0 first half lead. However St Chris’ team coach Sara Axtell must have conducted a highly-motivating half-time talk as the St/Chris team came out fired up for the second half. St Chris poured forward in numbers and looked increasingly dangerous. Eventually, the pressure told and St Chris pulled a goal back from a corner before the deserved equaliser came after powerful solo work by George Axtell. The full-time whistle came with the team all square on 2 each. Many thanks to the coaching and refereeing of both David and Sarah Axtell and to all the players who took part in this exciting game. We hope that it’s the first of many.
