Who Needs the Tooth Fairy?

From the moment the children lined up outside their classrooms you could sense that this was going to be an excellent field trip. They were excited, but also ready to represent their school.

The students hopped onto the bus with enthusiasm and were keen to learn more about “teeth”, having spent the first half term learning all about them. The Saar Dental Specialists were particularly well prepared with flip charts displaying healthy eating, interactive activities including an experiment using eggs and sugary drinks to give a visual impression of tooth decay and the use of disclosing tablets to show plaque. Some of the students were even lucky enough to have a go at showing off their brushing technique. The dentists then, very astutely, encouraged a more efficient and effective method.

Y3 Dentist Trip

Both the dentists and the staff commented on how well behaved the children were. Dr Zahra said, “This year we had a very nice interactive discussion with the children and did experiments and exercises involving ‘shopping at the supermarket’ where some children were chosen to do grocery shopping and what they would choose from the shelf. It certainly was interesting and the children and staff at Saar Dental Specialists Centre thoroughly enjoyed themselves! We hope to continuously upgrade the programme each year to a better and more useful learning experience for the students.”

Charlotte (3A) said, “The trip was cool and amazing and we learnt new things!”

Hannah M. (3D) said, “The trip was really fun and I learned what different drinks can do to your teeth.”
