GCSE English Information Evening

Year 11 Parents and students were invited to the English GCSE Information Evening to gain insight into the structure and assessment of the GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature examinations. Parents received information about how students’ skills are assessed in the examination and how these skills can be practised prior to the examinations. Mrs Dodson and Ms Percival talked through the examination papers and how the questions address different skills. For GCSE English Language, a key emphasis was placed on regular timed practice, with feedback from teachers. Students are also encourage to read a wide range of British centric newspapers to help develop students’ vocabulary and critical reading skills. GCSE Literature reiterated these skills change here alongside re-reading of the set texts. It was an informative evening that helped to support parents and students as they approach the GCSE Mock examinations in January.
