Rock that Talent!

On Friday 6 March, a number of talented musicians across a range of Year groups took part in the annual Rock ‘n’ Pop concert in the Drama Hall. The students spent the afternoon jamming together and preparing their performances. At around 4.00pm, audience members began to arrive and were greeted by a busking performance from Yousif Abu-Hammad, Raiya Thomure, Tor Sanderson and Aarti Rangarajan at the main entrance. Outside the Drama Hall, friends and family were welcomed by Crea Butlin and Jasmine Atkinson who had created their own ‘Arrival Song’ that directed spectators towards the performance space.

Members of 8E also worked hard to provide a variety of refreshments as part of their Year 8 Enterprise project in which they are collecting money for the Year group’s charity, an African Orphanage. The concert was a great success with students performing a variety of songs such as ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons, ‘Basket Case’ by Green Day and ‘Californication’ by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Two Year 7 groups featuring Danielle Doherty, Mishal Al-Mutairi, Eli Saghbini, Kamilah El Kanfoudi; and Thomas Milnes, Riddhiman Mehra and Nabeel Husain even performed their own songs. The evening ended with a special, surprise performance featuring our very own Head of Senior School, Nick Wilson as lead vocalist! Yousif Abu-Hammad, Raiya Thomure and Imanissa Azua enjoyed accompanying in their performance of ‘Come Together’ by The Beatles. Once again, the St Chris musicians did themselves proud and displayed a fantastic array of musical talent. The Year 7s made a significant contribution to the concert and showed that there is a great deal of exciting new talent coming up through the school. Congratulations to all who were involved in the event!
