“We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery, we need humanity.
More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.” ~ Charlie Chaplin

After the incredible success of World Kindness Day, the children and staff were looking forward to a week full of thoughtful gestures and random acts of kindness. Students across the Infant and Junior Schools were invited to think of one, simple kind act that they could fulfill at some point during the week. Some children wanted to spread generosity, whilst others thought of compassion. It was incredible to see the variety of ideas, and rewarding to see children empathize with others within their community.

The week kick-started with Kindness Squad leaving positive messages on post-it notes and placing them all over the school. They worked hard to think of inspirational notes and it was undeniable that coming across these notes during your day left you with a big smile on your face.

As the week continued, the Kindness Squad, dressed in their high visibility jackets, spent playtimes and mornings before school handing out hugs ad high fives and making sure everyone was feeling happy and cheerful.

RAK Week2

Tuesday had to be many people’s favourite day in the week, as we decided to show our appreciation for the non-teaching staff around the school. Children baked cookies and cupcakes at home and delivered them to both security guards and cleaners in the morning. Thank you cards were made with messages of gratitude, and it was heartwarming to see children making an active effort to make everyone feel valued and respected. A delighted Mr Visu (our Infant School caretaker) took it upon himself to make a display of the wonderful pictures and cards that they had received.

The kindness never stopped, and we hope that it made its way from school into your homes and further into the community. This was yet another opportunity for children to undertake a small piece of service and experience first-hand how easy and simple it can be to make a difference.
