The Sharks Attack Oman

On Thursday 26 March, 18 St Christopher’s Sharks travelled to Oman to compete in the BSME Swimming Championships 2015. Our team ranged from 9 years old to 17 years old. It was an early start on Friday morning, with a 7:30am warm up in the Sultan Quaboos outdoor 50m pool. Every competitor was allowed to swim four events plus relays. There was a range of distances from 50m to 200m in all strokes. Our Sharks proved victorious, especially in the relays, where we won a majority of our races, and broke established records. We received a number of ribbons from 4th to 6th place, 10 bronze medals, 20 silver medals and 35 gold medals. We broke the following records:

13-14 medley relay in 2:19.18
13-14 50m backstroke Yaseen Le Falher in 31.75
13-14 50m butterfly Shane McCarthy in 28.70
13-14 200m IM Shane McCarthy in 2:27.53
13-14 200m medley relay in 2:13.95
17-18 50m butterfly Tara McCarthy in 33.47
