Beauty and The Beach

beachcleanup

On Saturday 12 November, a group of Senior School Community Service Captains attended the Beauty and The Beach clean-up event at Nurana Island Beach. The event was organised by Gulf International Bank and Bahrain Beachcombers. Artists also attended the event and were seen creating sand sculptures and using graffiti to transform oil barrels into bins. Community Service Captain Zach Shamma, 8C reports: “The event was well organised and the beach was beautiful with wonderful clear water. It was shocking to see the mixture of washed up and littered waste, and it made you realise just how much destruction is caused to the environment when people drop litter. I went to the event with a few people from school and we all agreed how important it is to clear up after ourselves. It was overall a very good day with lots of families enjoying completing an act of kindness together. I look forward to attending another beach clean up to help out the Bahraini environment.”
