Three Days of Action

What a fantastic three days of sport! St Christopher’s Senior School once again hosted the Under 15 Games. Over 280 students took part in the Games. Twelve schools from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain battled it out over a very gruelling three days of action. St Christopher’s were able to enter two teams, an A and a B squad, which delighted many of our students. On the first day, the students travelled to the Rugby Club to take part in the Boys and Girls Football tournament. St Christopher’s Girls A team convincingly won all their pool games and beat Dubai British School in the semi-finals 3 – 2. They then faced British School Al Khubairat from Abu Dhabi and won the Final 1 – 0 and were crowned champions!

The Boys A and B team met each other in a 5 and 6 playoff game. Day 2, we moved to Isa Town for Boys Volleyball and Girls Netball. Our Boys Volleyball A team qualified for the semi-finals and beat British School Al Khubairat 25 -10. They played a great final against British International School Jeddah and narrowly lost 25 – 20. St Christopher’s B team, also had a great tournament finishing 3rd overall. Our Girls A team did well in their Netball pool games and finished 6th place in the play offs. On the final day, the show moved to Saar School for Athletics.

There were some superb individual and team performance, the most memorable performance was Erica Moolman in the 4 x320m race. Erica was handed the baton on the last leg of the relay, about 70m behind the girl in 1st place, this distance was cut down to 20m on the home straight, and then Erica turned on the boosters and ran past her to win the race!!! Our Girls were also crowned Athletic Champions. The Gala lunch and presentation took place in the School Hall. St Christopher’s A team came a very creditable 3rd overall, 2nd place went to the British International School, Jeddah and the British School Al Khubairat were the overall winners. My thanks to all students, coaches, helpers, officials, parents and supporters.
