Gulf Talent exceeds Expectations

An exhausting weekend for our students! Three days of intense sporting competition against fifteen Gulf based schools challenged the athletic talents of our students. After a late arrival on Wednesday evening, Thursday morning saw the girls out on the football pitch and the boys playing volleyball. Both teams performed magnificently and the boys were rewarded with 1st position after some intense and nail-biting matches. The girls achieved a very creditable result scoring 28 goals, more than any other team, ending third overall.

On Friday, the boys were out on the football pitch losing only one pool game. Similarly, the girls performed superbly on the netball courts but were unlucky to progress to the semi-finals. Both girls and boys were awarded sixth position. That evening, the fitness and determination of our team was tested in the 1500m and the 4 x 200m relays. Despite tiredness and sore muscles, the teams performed superbly in the middle distant events on Friday evening. On Saturday, the main athletic events were held. The competitors gave their ‘all’ and were amazing ambassadors for the school, never giving up. Third place in the athletics was just reward! The competition finished with a fantastic Gala Lunch. As the final results were announced, we were all delighted and ecstatic to find that St Christopher’s were third overall, missing second place by a solitary point. A fantastic weekend, which was hosted by British School Al Khubairat at New York University, Abu Dhabi. None of this would have been possible with the support of our parents and our sponsors AquaCool and AP Consulting. Bring on next year!
