La Crème de la Crème

Thirty-five students from the Junior School and forty-six students from the Senior School sat the DELF French examinations on Saturday 20 and Saturday 27 May 2017 at the Alliance Française de Bahreïn. Junior School Pupils prepared for these examinations during special training in school led by Subject Leader for French, Ms Nassima Chebel and also during their French lessons with emphasis on speaking, writing, reading and listening. Completing a mock test built their confidence prior to sitting the final examination. Their speaking and enunciation improved tremendously throughout the thirteen sessions they had. Some of them, very autonomous learners, persevered and sat the higher level examinations which was a huge achievement for children who are only ten years old. Delf Prim children also had the opportunity to participate in a Delf workshop with Monsieur Boillot, Course Director at the Alliance Française who was very happy to see their high level of motivation. Senior School students attended preparation workshops led by Ms Julie Hevia, French Teacher, and Mr Jamel Bazzouz, Head of Modern Foreign Languages, to prepare for the examinations.  The examinations went very well and the results were again outstanding in both the Junior and Senior Schools with a 100% success rate.

Junior School Outstanding Results

The highest grade for Prim A1.1 was attributed to Iman Khajah who achieved 98%. The highest grade for A1 was obtained by Sofia Chiavernini and Deena Al Dahwi who achieved 98%. The highest grade for A2 was achieved by Layla Al Dahwi who achieved 98%.

Senior School Outstanding Results

The highest grade for A1 was attributed to Thomas Milnes who achieved 94%. The highest grade for A2 was obtained by Mohammed Shaheen who achieved 95%. The highest grade for B1 was achieved by Giselle Nascimento Dias who achieved 83%.The highest grade for B2 was achieved by Noor Hammad who achieved 78%. Of note is that the highest grades in Bahrain in all four categories of the DELF (A1, A2, B1 and B2) were achieved by St Christopher’s Senior School students. Successful completion of the B2 examination satisfies the proficiency in French language requirements to study at French universities.
