Well Done Everyone!

Year 3 & 4 Sports Days

It seemed like the hottest day of the year when the Year 3 and 4 took on their Sports Day athletics challenges of jumping, throwing and running. On Monday 27 November, all the Houses competed against each other in a round robin athletics competition including the following events: high jump (showing the scissor kick leg action); slalom relay (focussing on agility and speed); beanbag target throw (enabling the children to practise their throwing for accuracy); sprint races (executing the sprint start technique like Usain Bolt); javelin throwing for distance, hurdles (that develop coordination of jumping while moving); standing long jumping for distance, bench relay and obstacle relay that helps develop a combination of the athletics elements. The level of effort from all the children was outstanding and at the end of the events the points was collated to reveal the following places:

Year 3

1st place         Merlin

2nd place        Osprey

3rd place         Kestrel

4th place         Falcon

Year 4

1st place         Osprey

2nd place        Falcon

3rd place         Merlin

4th place         Kestrel

Year 5 & 6 Sports Days

Year 5 and Year 6 Sports Days is one of the highlights of the year, with both Year Groups taking part in competitive athletic events to represent their House. It was a fantastic day with school records broken and many medals won! The final results saw Falcon winning the Sports Day Cup, while Osprey came second, Merlin third and Kestrel fourth.

Well done everyone! You all showed great determination and sportsmanship.
