Boys Volleyball Champions 2018!!

An exhausting weekend for our students! Three days of intense sporting competition against twelve Gulf based schools challenged the athletic talents of our students. After a late arrival on Wednesday evening, Thursday morning saw the girls out on the football pitch and the boys playing Volleyball. Both teams performed magnificently and the boys were rewarded with 1st position after an intense and nail-biting semi-final and then final. The girls played some skilful football and finished fourth in their Pool. They then went on to compete for seventh and eighth position which ended in penalties and St Christopher’s winning.

On Friday, the athletic events were held. The competitors gave their ‘all’ and were amazing ambassadors for the school, never giving up. The girls were awarded Gold after running a phenomenal 4 x 200m Relay and the boys achieved Bronze in their 4 x 200m Relay. Sixth place in the overall athletics was just reward!

On Saturday, the fitness and determination of our teams was tested, once again. The boys were out on the football pitch conceding only 1 goal and finishing first in their Pool, winning all their games. With grit and determination the boys ended up losing in a very competitive semi-final 2-1 after extra time. They finished 4th overall after another exhilarating play off. The girls performed superbly on the netball courts but were unlucky to progress to the semi-finals. They achieved a very creditable result, scoring 31 goals, and finishing eighth overall after playing extra time in the 7th and 8th play- off.

The competition finished with a fantastic Gala Dinner and Disco. As the final results were announced, we were all delighted to find that St Christopher’s were fourth overall, missing third place by three points. A fantastic weekend, which was hosted by the British School of Muscat, Oman. None of this would have been possible without the support of our parents and our sponsors AP Consulting and Alosra. Bring on next year!
