A Fun Filled Day

Year 7 Activity Day was a huge success, with students enjoying a range of activities. In the morning, they chose two of the following: fun relay races in the pool, multiball, table tennis, Just Dance, Science experiments and Mindfulness. At lunchtime, there were samples of international cuisine on offer provided by the students themselves. Then, in the afternoon, Mr Mac entertained us as compere of the Year 7 Talent Show, while Mrs Bourner, Miss Harrison and Mr Bonham provided insightful feedback on the amazing performances from our own Year 7 students. The acts comprised of singing, dancing, instrumental pieces, beatboxing and comedy. Our students are clearly very talented and have a bright future ahead of them on the stage! A big thank you also goes out to Mrs Grantham who created a very professional and dramatic ambience with the lighting and sound. Miss Henderson then rounded off the day with a World Cup style Form relay races event, while Miss Harrison led even more dancing! Thank you to Miss McKay, Mr Joseph and Mr O’Shaughnessy for taking lots of photos for us all to be able to remember this wonderful day! Thank you also to Mr Pallister, Mr Wales and the Sports Department for all their support. Well done, Year 7s! I am looking forward to next Year’s Activity Day already!

Year 8-10

Over 165 students from Years 8, 9, and 10 had a fun-filled day out at Wahoo, Magic Planet Bowling and the Cinema on Thursday 28 June during their Activities Day. Food was high on the agenda for the students as they ate their way through buckets of popcorn as they watched ‘The Avengers’ or ‘Jurassic World’, as well the vast majority taking advantage of the wide array of restaurants and food court opportunities for lunch! Lots of energy was burned by the students who chose to swim at the splash-packed, ride-filled, watery wonderland that is Wahoo Waterpark, including the brave students who flew high into the air on the boomerang ride and rocketed down the flumes on the Master Blaster ride. Hopefully, all the students enjoyed this opportunity to hang out with old and new friends and we hope that, next year, more activity choices can be offered to encourage a greater number of students to join in the fun!

Year 12

On Thursday 28 June, Year 12 students had the opportunity to spend the whole day dedicated to university applications. The programme consisted of rolling sessions conducted by our specialists on:

Where to begin;

UCAS registration;

UCAS Level 2;

Non UK/USA/Canada requirements;

Entrance Tests;

Early Entry;

Beginning a Common App.;

Common App. Level 2;

Common App essays;

Personal Statement workshops.

Applying to university can be a daunting process. The day was very productive in moving students well down the track towards securing places in high calibre courses after the summer. A special thank you to the Form tutors, Dr Watson, Mr Walker, Ms Al Hammoud and Mr Beck for advising on the day.
