Walking for a Cause

Saturday 5 May saw the intrepid Year 11 and 12 students undertake their sponsored walk to raise a minimum of BD110 for building materials and student sponsorship. The students took ownership of the event, arranging to meet at Arad Bay at 8.00 am ready for the group challenge of walking the distance of the Saudi Causeway. All students agreed to walk at least 9km each, representing the average daily distance students have to travel to and from school. Our students were truly experiencing what it was like to ‘walk in the shoes’ of others. All students completed their legs, with many sore legs, within an impressive two hours. This was even more impressive given the heat of the morning. The students were accompanied by several members of the Senior staff, Ms Percival, Mr O’Dowd, Mr Williams, Miss Looker, Mrs Gillard and Miss Tierney. Miss Al Hammoud was the staff hero, completing the impressive total of 27km individually in under four hours!
